Frost MageRestoration Druid

Mage / Resto Druid

A tier2v2mediumMD

The kite-forever comp. Two of the most mobile specs in the game combine rot-free control with a healer who cannot be locked down, winning long games through Polymorph attrition and Evocation-backed mana advantage.

Medium confidence: proven Classic archetype, core toolkit confirmed in demo footage, tuning unverified. Tiers revised weekly from community theorycraft; see the changelog below.

Specs

  • Frost Mage Caster DPS
  • Restoration Druid Healer

Game plan

The Mage controls the damage dealer with novas and Polymorph while chipping the kill target. The Druid stays out of range, powershifts everything, and only commits HoTs when swaps come. Win condition is a deep Polymorph chain on the healer once the enemy trinket is gone.

Why it works: synergy

  • Both members ignore snares and roots, so melee cleave never gets a clean hit.
  • Innervate into Evocation means MD wins nearly every mana war in the bracket.
  • Polymorph forces trinkets that Feral Charge and Bash then punish.
  • HoTs let the Mage play aggressively far from the Druid without hard-casting heals.

Counters

DoTs break Polymorph endlessly and double fear finds the Druid eventually.

Grounding eats Polymorph, Tremor is irrelevant to MD's game, and DoT rot outlasts frost chip damage.

Dangers: how this comp loses

  • Low kill pressure: against efficient healers the game can simply never end in your favor.
  • DoT comps disable Polymorph, the comp's entire win condition.
  • One caught Druid in a full stun chain can lose an otherwise-won game.

What Forever changes

  • Orc Mage (confirmed new combo) brings stun resistance to the bracket's most stun-hunted class.
  • Resto Druid chip damage improves with the confirmed bonus-healing-to-spell-damage change.
