Warrior / Mage / Warlock / Priest / Paladin
The gold standard of 5v5: every damage school, every dispel type, double healer, and CC in four categories. There is no lever this comp lacks; games are decided purely on target calls and cooldown trades.
Specs
- Arms Warrior Melee DPS
- Frost Mage Caster DPS
- Affliction Warlock Caster DPS
- Discipline Priest Healer
- Holy Paladin Healer
Game plan
The Warrior sets sustained pressure while Mage and Warlock rotate Polymorph and Fear across the enemy backline. Both healers cross-dispel, and kill windows are called on whoever eats a full Counterspell-plus-stun rotation. Mana Burn converts stalemates into inevitabilities.
Why it works: synergy
- Cleanse, Dispel Magic and Purge-answering coverage means no debuff strategy sticks to this team.
- Polymorph plus Fear plus Hammer of Justice plus Counterspell stresses every diminishing-return school at once.
- Double healer with Mana Burn support wins nearly every long game.
- Mortal Strike gives the caster core a persistent pressure anchor that never needs mana.
Counters
Raw synchronized melee damage can crack the Priest before the control game comes online.
Dangers: how this comp loses
- Coordination-hungry: five players calling swaps badly lose to three players calling them well.
- The Disc Priest is the pressure point; every competent enemy trains him from the gate.
- Slow starts lose to all-in cleave openers if defensive cooldowns are traded lazily.
What Forever changes
- Realmless rulesets and confirmed cross-combo races (Undead Paladin, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, Gnome Priest) mean this comp can be assembled with ideal racials on one team for the first time.
- Bonus healing granting spell damage gives both healers meaningful chip damage in double-healer stalemates.
