Marksmanship HunterRestoration Shaman

Hunter / Resto Shaman

B tier2v2speculativeHS

Ranged physical pressure that ignores armor-of-choice caster defenses, backed by totem utility. Punishes casters hard, struggles into comps that can force the Hunter inside dead zone.

Speculative: pre-beta theorycraft that depends on tuning or rules Blizzard has not confirmed. Tiers revised weekly from community theorycraft; see the changelog below.

Specs

  • Marksmanship Hunter Ranged DPS
  • Restoration Shaman Healer

Game plan

Keep max range, rotate Viper Sting on the enemy healer and Aimed Shot pressure on the kill target. The Shaman anchors mid, uses Grounding against setup CC, and Earthbind to protect the Hunter's range. Scatter Shot into Freezing Trap creates kill windows.

Why it works: synergy

  • Viper Sting plus totem mana efficiency wins most resource wars.
  • Grounding Totem protects the Hunter from Polymorph and Fear setups aimed at forcing dead-zone scrambles.
  • Scatter Shot, Freezing Trap, Intimidation and Earthbind chain into real CC windows despite no traditional lockdown.
  • Purge plus Viper Sting double-taxes enemy healers every fight.

Counters

RM forces the dead zone at will and Saps the Shaman before totems exist.

The Warrior lives in the Hunter's dead zone and the Druid outkites every trap setup.

Dangers: how this comp loses

  • Dead zone: any opponent camped between melee and 8 yards deletes Hunter output.
  • Totem-dependent defense collapses to any comp that assigns one global per totem.
  • Freezing Trap is the only real CC and it is slow, dispellable and diminishing-returns fragile.

What Forever changes

  • Human Hunter (confirmed new combo) joins the pool with a fresh racial kit.
  • Merged hit and crit is a straight buff to Aimed Shot pressure at low gear levels.
