Frost MageDiscipline Priest

Mage / Disc Priest

B tier2v2speculativeMP

Control plus dispel coverage. The Priest dispels everything that threatens the Mage, Mana Burns the opposing healer, and the Mage runs the Polymorph attrition game with a real safety net for the first time.

Speculative: pre-beta theorycraft that depends on tuning or rules Blizzard has not confirmed. Tiers revised weekly from community theorycraft; see the changelog below.

Specs

  • Frost Mage Caster DPS
  • Discipline Priest Healer

Game plan

The Mage sets the pace with Polymorph and frost control while the Priest keeps him alive with shields and dispels. Convert games through Mana Burn advantage, then land a Polymorph chain and full burst window on the dry healer.

Why it works: synergy

  • Dispel Magic answers Counterspell debuffs, Frost Nova follow-ups and enemy buffs in one global.
  • Mana Burn plus Evocation creates the widest mana gap available to a healer comp.
  • Power Word: Shield lets the Mage hard-cast Frostbolt into melee pressure.
  • Psychic Scream is a second CC school that stacks cleanly with Polymorph chains.

Counters

DoT rot beats shield-based healing and double fear punishes the Priest's positioning.

Mortal Strike pressure through shields is brutal and the Druid ignores the Polymorph game.

Dangers: how this comp loses

  • Disc Priest is the most kill-able healer in the bracket once Psychic Scream is down.
  • Weak against rot damage: shields are inefficient against DoT spread.
  • The comp needs its mana advantage; if Mana Burn is denied, kill pressure is thin.

What Forever changes

  • Gnome Priest (confirmed new combo) adds Escape Artist to a healer that desperately wants a snare break.
  • Bonus healing granting spell damage gives Disc Priests confirmed extra Smite and Holy Fire punish damage.
