Warrior / Holy Paladin
The anti-caster hammer. Cleanse, Blessing of Freedom and bubble utility keep the Warrior glued to a target with Mortal Strike ticking. Weak CC is the tax you pay for the best defensive toolkit in the bracket.
Specs
- Arms Warrior Melee DPS
- Holy Paladin Healer
Game plan
Freedom the Warrior onto the softest target and never let go. Cleanse every Fear, Polymorph and snare on cooldown, trade Blessing of Protection and Divine Shield to survive burst windows, and let Mortal Strike attrition decide the game.
Why it works: synergy
- Blessing of Freedom turns the comp's biggest weakness, Warrior mobility, into a strength.
- Cheap, spammable Cleanse hard-counters fear comps, DoT comps and frost kiting alike.
- Blessing of Protection and Divine Shield give two extra defensive cooldowns to a class with none.
- Hammer of Justice is the setup stun the Warrior kit is missing.
Counters
The Druid kites the enemy Warrior forever, and nothing in WP's kit catches a shifting Druid.
Sap and Blind on the Paladin are hard to answer, and RM can simply mount CC on the Paladin that Cleanse never touches.
Dangers: how this comp loses
- Almost no crowd control: good opponents just heal through predictable Mortal Strike pressure.
- The Paladin is extremely vulnerable while stunned; Kidney Shot windows are life-or-death.
- Mana attrition: Cleanse-spam games against Warlocks are winnable but razor-thin on mana.
What Forever changes
- Undead Paladin (confirmed new combo) is a direct buff to this archetype: Will of the Forsaken on the healer removes its worst matchup lever, the fear chain.
- Human Hunter and other new combos widen the pool of targets Freedom-train pressure works against.
